High potential and gifted education
At our school, we recognise the potential in every learner and we are committed to identifying, nurturing, and extending the talents of students who demonstrate high potential or giftedness across the four domains of learning — intellectual, creative, physical, and social-emotional. Through effective school systems, targeted programs, and differentiated learning experiences, we ensure these students are appropriately challenged, engaged, and inspired to achieve excellence.
Together, we strive to empower every high potential and gifted learner to thrive and realise their full potential.

What is high potential and gifted education?
High potential students
These students show abilities above most of their peers in one or more areas and benefit from learning that extends or enriches the regular curriculum.
Gifted students
Gifted students have a much higher level of potential than their peers, learn quickly, and thrive when given more advanced and challenging learning opportunities.
Highly gifted students
Highly gifted students have exceptional potential, often within the top 1% of their age group, and require personalised programs to meet their learning and wellbeing needs.
At Holsworthy Public School, we do this through:
- effective teaching strategies like enrichment, extension and acceleration
- tailored support during lessons that stretch, challenge and inspire
- access to a wide range of opportunities both within and beyond our school.
