Environmental Rangers

The Environmental Rangers program involves students who are chosen each semester to represent each class from Years 2–6. They meet regularly to manage the school vegetable gardens and are responsible for food scrap collection from their classes.

The rangers are responsible for the No-Waste Lunch inititave which encourages students in each class to use reusable containers rather than plastic wrapping.

Tournament of the Minds

Tournament of Minds is a problem solving program for teams of students in Years 3 to 6. They are required to solve demanding, open-ended challenges from one of the following disciplines:

• Science Technology

• Engineering Mathematics

• Social Sciences

• Language Literature

Students selected form teams of seven and work together to solve both spontaneous and long term challenges. The spontaneous challenges last several minutes and require creativity and teamwork to answer, while the long term challenges last six weeks and rely heavily on the cooperation of all team members to ensure that on challenge day, the performance  goes smoothly. Students are required to prepare their work without the assistance of adults. The competition commenced in the first week of Term 3.

Debating

Students in Year 5 and 6 have the opportunity to join the debating teams. Students participate in regular training and attend workshops to develop their public speaking and debating skills. Students selected to be apart of the debating teams are involved in regular debating competitions with schools in the area to develop the skills learned throughout the year.
