Number Crunching Winners

Holsworthy Public School entered the Number Crunchers Competition once again this year and had some outstanding achievements. Number Crunchers is an exciting and challenging mathematics competition, which began as an initiative of Sydney NSW Public Schools. The Semi Final and Championship Final has a format similar to a spelling bee, with answers to challenging mathematics questions calculated mentally and given in spoken form. The Golden Pi Challenge sees the winner reciting Pi to the most decimal places.
This year Holsworthy Public School had four Year 6 students participate in the Semi Final at Casula Public School. Akshara, Surabhi, Steven and Adian were all successful in their rounds and will now progress to the Grand Final Championship at Connells Point Public School.
Jamie (Year 4) competed in the Golden Pi Challenge and won his round, reciting Pi to 562 decimal places!
Good luck to these students for the finals.
